Kilwin's Chocolates and Fudge franchise owner Jackie Jackson remembers the dayThe Silver Room came into her life.
It was a Saturday, a couple of years ago, about 2 p.m. in July. When she got closer to her store, she noticed a long line of customers. Jackson jumped on the register to move the line along thinking she would leave once the crowd thinned out. She said when she next looked up, it was 11 p.m.

As temperatures heat up around Chicago, so do the festivals throughout town. From the Chosen Few Music Fest to Summer Dance, Chicago hands-down has free (or cheap) fun and entertainment on the summer schedule. And one of the biggest festivals on the South Side is coming up—The Silver Room Block Party on July 21 from noon-10 p.m. In its 15thyear, the festival is sure to serve up the same fun and family reunion feel it has become known to provide.
Today the organizers of the Silver Room Block Party announced the full lineup for their 15th blowout. Its three outdoor stages will present the likes of foundational Chicago hip-hop producer the Twilite Tone, classic-house veteran Ron Trent, hip-hop icon Bobbito Garcia (of beloved 90s New York radio program The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show), and singular singer, producer, and polymath Georgia Ann Muldrow.
